New stop paddle cameras issued in Bellevue School District catch 107 violators in just first month. Announced last September, the BSD was placing cameras near the stop signs that line the sides of school buses. Camera footage is used by the KC Sheriff’s Department to determine when fines should be issued to cars failing to yield to a school bus while their stop sign is deployed. Failure to yield to a stopped school bus in Bellevue can be as high as $419. All revenue generated from the fines will be used to further fund the program.
